CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, N.Y., Mon. July 28, 2008: Jamaican track stars Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell turned in impressive performances at London's Crystal Palace over the weekend.
Winning the 200-m in a time of 19.76 seconds, Bolt ran the fastest time ever seen in Britain.
`He virtually jogged the last 15 meters of the 200m,` Brendan Gallagher wrote in the Sunday Telegraph. `Although Michael Johnson's almost mythical world record of 19.32sec, set at the Atlanta Olympics, has always looked beyond reach, Bolt could go close in Beijing.`
Powell posted a time of 9.94 seconds for his victory in the 100-m. Fellow Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown came within 0.02 of her best time when she won the 100-m in 10.87.
All three top athletes are eyeing gold in Beijing next month.
