CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, N.Y., Fri. June 27, 2008: Arthur Chung, Guyana`s first president is set to be laid to rest on Monday.
Chung, who died earlier this week after a long illness, will have a state funeral. His body will be be open for public viewing on Sunday at the National Cultural Center in Georgetown, Guyana and will precede the funeral ceremony.
Chung, a former attorney, was the first and only president of Chinese descent. He served from 1970 to 1980, when the office of the president took on executive powers.
