CaribWorldNews, BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Tues. Nov. 17, 2009: Top tennis player, Serena Williams, is set to treat Bajans to a top tennis match later this month.
Williams is set to face Caroline Wozniacki on November 28th and on November 29th at the Gymnasium at Sugar Hill in Barbados. The matches will benefit the local tennis fraternity.
Both players are also set to conduct a fantasy camp for some lucky children in an event coordinated by the Barbados Tennis Association on Saturday November 28.
Kodi Lewis, one of the directors of Barbados Invitations Tennis Exhibition, confirmed that the event will raise funds for the Barbados Tennis Association and the island`s top senior player, Haydn Lewis, who is based in Australia, and the two top juniors, Darion King and Alyssa Fuentes, who are based in Barbados.
Gregory Armstrong, sports tourism manager at the Barbados Tourism Authority , commented, `This is extraordinarily special because these players had other choices but Barbados is their preference. It means that we continue to demonstrate our ability to stage quality events that will attract visitors to the destination. It means that awareness is heightened and, by extension, earnings will accrue to the destination.`
Tickets will range from BDS$100 through to BDS$200.
