CaribWorldNews, BROOKLYN, NY, Thurs. July 29, 2010: A 60-year-old Barbados migrant was shot and killed by alleged robbers earlier this morning in his home in Canarsie, Brooklyn, NY.
Businessman Stevenson Blackett was asleep in the basement of his home when two killers bent on apparently robbing the family entered at about 1:15 a.m. through a screen on a side door, police said.
Police said gunmen tried to tie up Blackett before killing him. Blackett migrated from Barbados nearly 40 years ago and is the owner of Stevenson Maintenance Inc., a plumbing company, in the Bronx. He has owned the company for the past 32 years.
Blackett`s wife, Brenda, 59, three grandchildren and his father-in-law – were spared.
