CaribWorldNews, TAMPA, FL, Weds. Jan. Top attorney for Jamaican reggae star, Buju Banton, claims the singer was entrapped by the U.S. government.
In court documents filed Tuesday, Attorney David Markus claims the U.S. government used a paid informant to convince his client to buy cocaine, according to a St. Petersburg Times report.
Markus also wants the informant`s identity revealed.
Banton, 36, Mark Myrie, has so far pleaded not guilty to a drug charge in Tampa federal court. He`s being held without bail at Pinellas County Jail.
His trial is to begin in March.
His latest album, "Rasta Got Soul," has been nominated for a Grammy in this Sunday`s awards.
