CaribWorldNews, ROSEAU, Dominica, Tues. Dec. 22, 2009: A CARICOM Electoral Observer Mission is lauding the just-concluded election in the Commonwealth of Dominica as `transparent` and `a true reflection of the people.`
The statement comes on the same day Dominica`s Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit, was sworn in for another term after leading his Labor Party to an overwhelming election win.
Skerrit took the oath of office before President Nicholas Liverpool at a brief ceremony at the Office of the President Monday. The Labour Party won 18 seats in Friday`s vote with the other three going to the United Workers Party.
PM Skerrit said he would delay naming his new cabinet until after Christmas.
The CARICOM Observer Mission was led by Hensley Robinson, former Chief Elections Officer of Barbados, while the other members of the Mission were drawn from Antigua and Barbuda, Guyana, Jamaica and the CARICOM Secretariat.
