CaribWorldNews, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Thurs. Dec. 3, 2009: Wray and Nephew, makers of the popular Jamaica rum, say a fire that destroyed a warehouse in the Spanish Town Road area of Kingston Tuesday night is a mystery.
General Manager for Corporate Affairs at Wray and Nephew, Greta Bogues, yesterday told Radio Jamaica, the investigation into the late night fire is ongoing, but added that the fire was contained to an area of the plant which houses our empty barrels.
She added that as a result, rum sales and stock will not be affected for the holidays.
A spokesman for the Jamaica Fire Brigade said investigators are yet to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Wray & Nephew`s products include Appleton Special and Estate rums and the popular White Overproof rum.
