CaribWorldNews, MIAMI, FL, Thurs. Feb. 7, 2008: A deportation hearing is scheduled for today to determine whether Lyglenson Lemorin, the Haitian national recently freed of charges he plotted to destroy Chicago\'s Sears Tower, should be sent back to Haiti.
Immigration officials, who nabbed Lemorin soon after he was found innocent late last year, are charging the Haitian migrant with essentially the same crime.
They accuse Lemorin of conspiring or planning to engage in terrorist activity and gathering information on potential attack targets. And they claim that Lemorin was `a member of a terrorist organization` and is likely to get involved in terrorism again if he remains in this country.
Lemorin was one of 7 Miami men accused of plotting with another man they thought was from al-Qaida to destroy Chicago\'s Sears Tower and bomb FBI offices in Miami and elsewhere. Under U.S. immigration laws, a greencard holder convicted of a crime is deportable. Lemorin has been in detention since last December.
His attorney, Charles Kuck, insists they `… are going to go ahead and contest the charges.` The other six remaining suspects face up to 70 years in prison if convicted of four terrorism-related conspiracy charges. – CaribWorldNews.com
