CaribWorldNews, Kingstown, St. Vincent, Tues. Feb. 5, 2008: A claim of rape by a cop against the Prime Minister of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, has been ` wholly discontinued’ by the islands’ Director of Public Prosecution.
DPP Colin Williams said the charge was discontinued since it was felt the allegation was not likely to stand up in a court of law. He claimed that one key factor for his decision was that the accuser had not yet furnished the police or his office with a formal statement about the matter.
The 36-year-old police woman claimed she was raped by Gonsalves on Jan 3, 2008. Gonsalves on Friday categorically denied the allegation, claiming the move was politically motivated. – CaribWorldNews.com
