CaribWorldNews, EUGENE, Oregon, Mon. June 8, 2009: Jamaican and Trinidadian athletes failed to record a win at the 2009 Prefontaine Classic in Oregon Sunday, with the U.S. again proving their dominance.
Jamaican Olympians, Asafa Powell and Shelly Ann Fraser both failed to take the win. Instead, Powell was second in the men's 100 metres 'A' race clocking 10.07 seconds behind American winner Michael Rodgers` 9.94 seconds.
Trinidad`s Richard Thompson was fifth while Jamaica`s Michael Frater ended sixth and Marc Burns of Trinidad in eight place.
Fraser came a woeful fourth in a time of 11.10 in the women's 100 meters to finish behind compatriot and world leader Kerron Stewart who took second in 10.90 seconds.
The winner was American winner Carmelita Jeter in a wind aided 10.85.
American Sanya Richards also beat out Olympic silver medalist Shericka Williams for the women`s 400-m win in a time of 49.86 compared to Williams` 50.72.
While Novlene Williams-Mills was fifth in 51.32 seconds and Olympic 400 meter hurdles champion Melaine Walker finished seventh in 52.01.
World leader Isa Phillips posted 48.55 for second in the 400 metre hurdles behind American winner Bershawn Jackson 48.38 while Markino Buckley posted 50.80 for 6th.
American Maggie Vessey also beat out Kenia Sinclair for the women's 800 meters in two minutes and 18 seconds.
Brigitte Foster-Hylton 13.08 was fifth in the women's 100 meter hurdles won by American Michelle Perry in 12.74.
Jovanee Jarrett leapt 6.69 metres for fourth in the women's long jump while Dorian Scott registered 19.91 meters for seventh in the men's shot putt.
