A Winter Tale Set To Open In Jamaican Theaters
Jamaican-Canadian film and television star Peter Williams is preparing for a trip back to his home town of Kingston, Jamaica, as his most recent project, `A Winter Tale,` gets ready to be released theatrically across the island.
Directed and produced by Frances-Anne Solomon, A Winter Tale will open to movie-goers in Jamaica on April 9 at the following cinemas: Carib 5, Kingston; Palace Cineplex, Kingston; Palace Multiplex, Montego Bay, Odeon Cineplex, Mandeville; and the Marquee Cayman in Georgetown, Grand Cayman.
Williams portrays one of the film’s central characters; Gene Wright - a concerned social worker who takes it upon himself to start a local Black Men’s support group, after a young boy is accidentally killed by a stray bullet.
Williams was born and raised in Kingston, but left Jamaica to attend university. He broke into acting through modeling, and was lucky enough to `learn on the job` through some of his early projects, such as his starring role in the Gemini Award-winning series Neon Rider. Over the years, his talents have been augmented by intensive workshops such as Second City’s improv classes.
His selected credits include: Catwoman, Da Vinci’s Inquest, The Chronicles of Riddick, Stargate SG-1 and Dead Like Me.
Williams currently resides in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia on Canada’s west coast.

Haitian Artist`s Work Part Of Danny Simmons Exhibition
The work of Haitian artist, Francks F. Deceus, is currently on display at the Danny Simmons’ Corridor Gallery. The exhibition, titled ` Crossing Cultures,` will run through May 10 at the gallery at 334 Grand Avenue in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
Deceus` paintings are largely abstract. Puerto Rican artist, Gabriel Rueda Pacheco`s work is also part of the exhibition. Her work is inspired by and pays homage to the history of the African Diaspora and Caribbean history specifically, yet there is always a reminder that they were created in a very urban context.
Danny Simmons’ Corridor Gallery is a project of The Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation founded in 1995 by Russell, Danny and Joseph `Rev Run` Simmons, which is dedicated to providing disadvantaged urban youth with significant exposure and access to the arts, as well as providing exhibition opportunities to underrepresented artists and artists of color.
Richie Stephens, Etana and Duane Stephenson, are among the acts set to perform next month at the inaugural Team Jamaica Bickle on the Road to Beijing concert.
The concert is set for Brooklyn College on April 20th and is being presented by TJB and VP Records to raise not only funds to support Jamaican athletes at the annual Penn Relays but athletes preparing for the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing in August.
Stephens is known for dancehall singles like `Winner` `Bus the Place` and the mock operatic `Slop Dem.` In just one short year, Etana has been hailed as one of the burgeoning new and sensational sounds in the roots Reggae era. She has hit home on the roots scene with songs like `Wrong Address` and `Roots.`
For the past 14 years, Team Jamaica Bickle has provided necessary financial support and services to Jamaican and Caribbean high school athletes participating in the annual Penn Relays track and field competition. Support offered by TJB includes subsidized travel and accommodations, meals, ground transportation, and athletic scholarships to outstanding high school track and field athletes. Past Team Jamaica Bickle alums include Olympic Gold Medalist Veronica Campbell, often dubbed one of the world's fastest women; Olympic Gold Medalist Sherone Simpson; World Championship Silver Medalist Usain `Lightening` Bolt; and Olympian Aileen Bailey, sister of Dancehall legend Capleton.
