CaribWorldNews, CASTRIES, St. Lucia, Mon. Jan 7, 2008: A 20-year-old St. Lucian national has walked away with the title of the first ever Ford Models’/ Face of Fashion Supermodel of the Caribbean 2007/2008.
Cathy Daniel won the title from a field of 12 participants, from the Caribbean islands of St. Lucia, Dominica, Martinique and Trinidad, who participated in the week-long event. The first runner-up was Shalan St. Hill age 16 while the second runner-up was Stephanie Peter, 19. All three are from St. Lucia
During the days leading up to the grand finale, the models took part in radio interviews, photo shots, catwalk training and hair and make-up makeovers
at the exclusive Caribbean Jewel Beach Resort in St. Lucia.
The contestants strutted and glided in Face Of Fashion Caribbean Designer`s Collection 2007/2008, showcasing upcoming designers: Dominican, Carla Hazel – Caribbean Fusion colorful line; Dominican - Ivenia Raffoul – Swim wear line and Trinidad - Huworth Leonce - H.L.L. Design line.
President of Face of Fashion, Carla Hazel, said that the models were very impressive. `Each of them worked very hard and wanted the top prize of a guaranteed spot in the Ford Model Supermodel of the Worlds Competition in New York City in January 2008, but in the end the competitors of St. Lucia made a clean sweep and won the top three positions,` said Hazel. `We are now looking forward to seeing a fresh face from the Caribbean in the Ford Model Supermodel of the World Competition on January 16, 2008.
